IP-Based Library for analog design reuse

چکیده
The main objective of this work is to improve the design flow of analog and mixed signal integrated circuits. Purely digital systems profit from standardized tools and methods which allow automatic synthesis. In the analog domain, automatic synthesis has probably no sense and efforts must be done towards developing consistent and coherent CAD (Computer Aided Design) methods and tools. The main idea is to re-use the accumulated design knowledge which could be illustrated by the IP (Intellectual Property) concept. In this paper, we give our experience on the following aspects: content of an analog IP, IP-based library and its integration in the system design flow, applied on a specific example.

IP-Based design reuse for analog systems
The design flow of Analog and Mixed Signal has to be improved. In a specific application, we propose a definition of the IP content and the structure of an IP-based library. The case study consists in the neuron-level integration of a complete system that emulates spiking neural networks. As it is often the case, the development of the analog part of the system requires the largest amount of ti...
متن کاملAnalog IP Filter Cores With Embedded Test For Design Reuse
Current technology allows for the integration of complete systems onto a single chip. These systems on chip (SoC) are increasingly designed by connecting together large pre-designed and verified modules, called cores, with the advantage being a faster design cycle. The development of third party Intellectual Property (IP) cores is a rapidly expanding industry, and whereas initially these were n...
متن کاملAn IP-based library for the design of analog Hodgkin-Huxley neurons
This paper presents the neuron-level integration of a complete system that emulates spiking neural networks. Analog ASICs are used for the computation of neurons activity while the connectivity between these neurons is digitally controlled. One ASIC integrates several biologically realistic neurons, following the Hodgkin-Huxley formalism, where mathematical functions are emulated by typical or ...
متن کاملA New Approach for Automated Analog Design Optimisation
This paper presents a new method to improve analog design automation and thus design reuse. A topdown constraint driven methodology is applied to design complex analog system. This approach formulates the design problem as a multi objective optimization problem (MOOP). In the last decades optimization has been introduced in the field of analog design. Nevertheless, the knowledge needed to build...
متن کاملApplication Platforms and Synthesizable Analog IP
Perhaps the most compelling new trend in system-level semiconductor design is the concept of application “platforms”. Such platforms are intended to make the development of complex, application-specific systems-on-chip (SOCs) an order of magnitude faster and more reusable. They may provide either functional and infrastructure IP, or both, as well as definitions and interfaces for layers of abst...
